Personal Computer & Network Technology
Qualified personal computer and network technology specialists are in
demand! Almost any company needs Local Area Network (LAN) Administrators, LAN Engineers, PC Repair
Technicians, and Help desk Specialists to support their systems. The Personal Computers and Network
Technology program focuses training in these specialized areas.
This program is designed to equip the student with the knowledge, skill and
experience necessary to install, configure, troubleshoot, and replace computer components, as well
as teach the students the most common personal computer operating systems. Special emphasis is
placed on LAN setups, configurations, management, diagnosis, and client/server LANs using common
topologies and protocols. The program includes training in application software for word
processing, spreadsheets, and databases, as well as general education courses. These general
education courses are designed to give students oral and written communication skills, critical
thinking skills, a basic understanding of terms and philosophies, and a comprehension of
contemporary problems and issues.
