Health Information Technology
This program is designed to provide students with the appropriate general education,
theory, and hands-on skills required and necessary for starting, maintaining, and growing in a
chosen Health Information Technology career. Students are prepared to function in a variety of
medical facilities with the option of several chosen fields of expertise. The courses in this
program are designed to prepare students for entry-level jobs that may involve:
- Structure and analysis of healthcare data
- Coding and indexing of information
- Management of retention and reimbursement systems for health insurance claims
- File analysis and management, healthcare statistics and health record evaluation
- Verbal and written communication with other healthcare professionals
